Apparently, it's so cold right now that it started snowing here in Egypt. The pictures below was taken in Alexandria.

Below is a video of kids playing with the snow (not in the snow, as the amount would not allow them too). It's such a rare occurrence that I could say that this is the first time it happened in the years that I've been here.

Lame, I know

So, happy cakeday to me I guess. Been 3 years having it in Egypt by now. And I'm quite lucky as my friends doesn't 'celebrate' it, because usually it's very near to our final semester exam. Like right now, which is just another week really. So I should truthfully be cramming among piles of book instead of typing this post. Heh.

Also, I'm not the kind that celebrate this kind of day too. Coz it just mean another year nearer to our death, no?

Damaged

OK, I'm not going to apologize or explain why I haven't posted anything for the past 5 months. Because you know, I've got more important priorities other than blogging. Like, let's say, studying. Criterias for becoming a Malaysian Govt. Doctor

There's no need for an aptitude test. Students should consider these requirements:

No life outside medicine; this includes dating, sports, clubbing, chores for your parents and visiting the toilet.
Not to live with your parents. Move out ASAP as they will never understand the ludicrous working hours that u go through. Furthermore, chores are not suitable for u as to rule No. 1.
Not to be married until completion of all 4 years of Govt Compulsory service as u will be transferred left and right to some of the most remote Govt clinics in Malaysia. Having wife and kids to follow you to your new working area may increase high level of stress on all parties. Furthermore, if your spouse is a Govt Doctor, he/she will also be transferred away from u and no matter what appeal is made, KKM will put up a deaf ear (unless u have big cables or of a certain skin color).
If married, no to have children until u finish all 4 years of Govt Compulsory service, as to which u and your spouse will not have much time for your child/children or they end up not recognizing u and refer the Indonesian maid as their mother (change in language patterns commonly follow).
To obtain life insurance once your govt service begins as there is not many claims for accidents during work. Don't be fooled, Doctoring in Malaysia is hazardous.
Able to withstand 36 hours of non stop work and stress without mistakenly labeling Left for Right or uvula for vulva (or Volvo S40)
To buy a car with complete safety features which includes multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, side-front-rear-top-parallel and diagonal impact bars and seat belts to ensure survivability if u are involved in an accident because your driving resembled a drunkard maniac after working in the hospital for 40 hrs non stop.
Constant supply of coffee
Nicotine Patch as u will have the urge to start smoking due to overwhelming stress
Interest in watching medical sitcoms such as House MD, Scrubs, ER, Grays Anatomy and Chicago Hope to inspire u to continue your life as a doctor as the exciting things u see on TV does not resemble the real life of a Malaysian govt doctor.
Not to have any pets or plants (not even cactuses) as u will have no time to feed or care for them and eventually all will end up in your mortuary.
Able to endure the stench of your own sweat as to when 36 hours "on call" does not permit u time to bathe or freshen up.
Able to carry on working without food or water over 15 hours. ( I was in OT for 16 hrs without food, water or bathroom breaks). If during fasting month, able to break your fast with ?water for injection? as u had no time to buy food.
Able to come to work with fever/cough/illness or physical disability (sprained ankle etc) as to which doctors do not deserve MCs. (My MO was on crutches during rounds)
Able to stand scolding, destructive criticism, kiss ass behaviors, racial bias, finger pointing, scape goating, and in competency from your superiors.
Able to withstand the jealousy when your friends call u up for some fun and ur stuck in the hospital during on call.

Mid Sem Exam

So, today I went to battle a mid-level boss. Current Level: O. No leveling up. No upgrading equipments. No items. Nothing. I haven't prepared anything. I was sure that I would totally be pawned. But the battle turned out to be alright after all. ~~Now to wait for the result to see if I have miraculously obtain a new ability: 'Imagine Breaker'.~~

A Prospectus on Medicine

Been on bloghopping in these past few days. Trying to look and feel how doctors think personally about themselves and also their world. Surprisingly, much of their thoughts are on the same roof as mine, but also don't forget the few bad apples in the career that (sometimes) tarnished the healthcare (or healthfucked) service.

And here are some comments which I like to touch on personally....

"Malaysian generally has lost their creativity. When they study, the sole objective is to get As, the more the better. The top scorers always choose the medical profession as there are no other profession in this world,"

So true, it saddens me that most teachers teaches us good stuffs only for us to get A's in our National Exam, SAT kind like exam. (SPM) This also reflected on the mentality of the parents, who spends hundreds of Dolars just to send their kids to the best private tuition available in their place, without looking at their child's mental needs, ideas, thoughts about it. Good environment won't evoke a good worksmanship if the person itself is injured/rotten inside.

And another problem.....the obsession with medical careers....do the parents think it's a GREAT job for their children? Do they think doing RECTAL examination (Looking at patient craps for green stuffs), BLOOD TESTS (Also to check for spirally shaped pathogens and other errs) or worst, TIGHT work schedule for life is cool? Stop yapping about how noble it is, helping injured creeps back to their health, because healthcare is only for, as the name implies (healthCARE) people who are indeed, motivated, willingly from their heart to help those good for nothing creeps.

"Choose medicine as a career only if you have the passion, and the aptitude for it.
Only then can you suffer the touch times and the inevitable injustices (not just in our country, but anywhere else for that matter) and not feel self-pity, depression and burn-out,"

That's why, medicine is tough shit to crack. A kind heart and a goodwill to help others plus good understanding is what we need. In addition, you will learn continously, read updated journals, researches for the rest of your life. I bet those parents too will wet their feet if asked to commit their life into healthcare. Every suffering person is an injured soul, they didn't want shuns and ostracised from the community, they need help and support (Medically, mentally, physically, name it) from others instead AND this is what doctors are meant to be, cuz you know, doctors have the license to kill, legally.

And now, medicine is slowly consumed by the innocent (Yet EVIL, harharhar) consumerism who sucks money from people via some doctors who didn't care shit about their patients. Money, fame is what they seek, but medicine is not the way, there are many more careers to choose from. Lucrative business, famous musicians, enigmatic politicians, creative entrepeneurs, above all garnered more annually rather than that friendly ~~mortician~~ general practicioner in your local clinic.

"Only when you can keep your eyes steadily on the goal of service and alleviating human suffering can you take the hurdles that crop up as challenges to be met, and overcome, rather than obstacles that overwhelm you."

So true....to see those wrecked body, agonizing pain the soul endured.....it's incredible how these people didn't crack up or losing their personal touch after years of enduring these ennerving moments. Some people screwed themselves hard (Suicide) just because of academic failures, broken love, life's downs....but to see people forced to leave the realm of the living is a hard hit to be pondered, and sometimes, the face of those who prepared, accepted the notion of their "hourly death" can be a great example of how dynamic humans can be....

So to those who hopes to be a physician one day, think thoroughly with your mind and heart, whether the "will" comes from deep of your heart, or from the external "prodding" of your peers/parents. They might say that they make a great choice in setting their child's future, but...

"In business, even fools can give adivices, while sages err in their own judgments,"

Only you can make the difference. Don't forget mom and dad, but sometimes you need to steer the boat yourself for the fruitfulness of your own.

P/S: Make sure you didn't make a wrong judgment though, this is VERY subjective.

Alright, I'm gonna necromance this blog of mine now.

Nothing much to say though. Sorry for neglecting this blog for half a year. Blame Facebook, Twitter and the IRC for my absence. Mostly Twitter. Chirps :V

Many things happened during this past 6 months. Returning back home, enjoying the holiday lazily, Bon Odori, ~~going out with girlfriend~~, GForum gathering, Ramadhan, ~~not getting any scholarship or loan~~, eating out, balik kampung, Eid ul-Fitr and ~~a little accident at the airport before~~ returning back here in Egypt. It's been over a month already.

Class is like the usual. Having PBL and lectures. A bit of practical anatomy. Just got a new session called Early Experience where we have class at the hospital and looking at the patients. That's all I guess. Nothing much going on right now.

I'll post again if there's something interesting worth posting. Or when I'm not being too lazy. Haha.

It's Not Over Yet

The battle only just began..

Sorry for being on hiatus for so long. And thanks to those who wishes me luck on my previous exams; I appreciate it.

As regarding to the title and the picture above, it's about the said exams; the results are out. And I'm deeply dissatisfied by it. I barely made the passing mark, and when I said barely, I really mean it. Another slip, and I could've failed.

And that won't look nice on my first year overall result, which is the top priority right now.

This wouldn't have happened if I studied seriously from the beginning. I thought it would be OK if I just study leisurely, and take it easy. Oh, could've I been so wrong before in my life.. Should I have been studying seriously, "Very Good" is not so far-fetched mark for me, even "Excellent" is possible.

What I can hope for right now is that I'll do exceptionally great on the the upcoming second semester to back up these pitiful results to balance the overall yearly marks.

That said, I'll be furthering my hiatus for the next few months, maybe stretching to the end of June, which when I'll be done with all the classes and exams. There're also a lot of unfinished drafts that I'm yet to post, so maybe every now and then if I have the time I'll try to complete one or two and post them up once a month or a fortnight.

Shut Down - Part 1

No, it's not my blog that I'm shutting down here. It's my online life.

Well..only just for a little while, though. I'll be temporarily offline as I'm having the final semester exams at the end of the month, in which I want to fully utilize these few days that I have left and focus on my study.

I'll be kicking and rolling again on February the 4th, denoting the last day of my exams and the start of my winter break.

As you've might noticed, I've put "Part 1" on the title. Yes..there will be a follow up "Shut Down" entries in the future. I'll be putting up a similar post like this about a month or few weeks prior to my exams, as to not give you the idea that I've died off somewhere else due to not having heard any news from me for a long period of time.

Let's just hope that's not what really happen, shall we...

Managing to pack all the day revision in one evening is quite a feat, but it leaves you with a soaring ache in the head. Actually it's the second time I need to pull out something like this, the first was during the Pre-Medic Programme that I took a few months back.

BLOG IS OFFICIALLY DEAD...not.

But seriously, I thought I'm going to die back then. My online life, that is.

Like I've said before, studying medic is a serious business. You've got to put you're all into it; your time, your thought and most importantly your life.

Thus came the quote "Medic student have no life".

But that depends solely on the person. You could have life, but fail in your study. You could succeed in your study, but have no life. I want to prove that I can have both without sacrificing the other.

That said, I need to work on my schedule to squeeze in a few more hours of internet surfing session in a day to prolong the life expectancy of this blog.

Tiredness & Pictures

I'm dead tired

After three days of lectures and tutorials, the tiredness kicked in and I was left with only little energy to post up the promised pictures. But with all my might, I used up all the remaining strength that I had and succeed in making this entry. Now, I can rest in peace...

Enough with the crapping, lets move on to the pictures.

We see here before us the restaurant that I had a late lunch at, shortly after arriving here in Egypt. Located along the river of Nile, the Fish Boat give you an opportunity of on-water feast, feeling the slight ripple of small waves on this world-longest river.

Of course, it's not recommended for those with sea-sickness or weak stomach to feast on this floating restaurant.

And here you could see the scenery along the coast of Alexandria. It is one of the main summer resort in the Middle East, visited by people from all other cities to enjoy the sun and the sea.

There're a lot of tourist spot here in Alexandria. To name a few; Montaza Royal Garden, Marina Village, Maamoura Beach, The Unknown Soldier Monument, Saint Catherine Church, Abu el-Abbas el-Mursi Mosque and also the statue of the founder of the city, Alexander The Great.

But because of the little time that I had during the trip there, I could only visit the Montaza Royal Garden and the Montaza Palace.

Sorry that I could post up only a little pictures that I have, as I took only a few shots during these short trips.

I'll try to post up more during my course of study, maybe some anime or manga-related entries, and I'll also keep you all informed and entertained with some interesting shots that I took here.

I'll Be Back

Fogging, anyone?

It's quite enlightening how three simple words could make a person famous...

But while Arnold Schwarzenegger goes around saving the future leader of the Resistance, I'm just here to say that I'M BACK.

What could I say? It's like an early Christmas present. Instead of one month like I've stated before, it actually takes only a few days to get my online life kicking and rolling again.

As I'm only renting the house that I'm living here, I couldn't use the landlines. Or should I say, the landlord is too stingy to give us any landlines at all. So I get out of my way to one of the local telecommunication service provider, namely Etisalat to get myself a broadband. Only after a few hassle with the Arabian with their poorly-spoken English, did I finally managed to bring a USB modem home.

Held back by some affair (registering and transferring to other program) and getting around buying some missing households, it is only after a week that I could post up this here. (ok, actually I'm just too lazy :P)

Unfortunately for me, I didn't have the trip around Cairo like planned, and so no Pyramids will be posted here anytime soon. Probably next winter or summer break, I hope.

Take Off

So, the day has come huh...

I never would have thought it would be this fast. Well,anyway..most of you guys would probably have known, but I'll be going to Egypt tomorrow (Sunday).

Here are some of my should-be-schedules, should not any technical problem or horrid accidents happening during the whole course:

I'll be off to the KLIA next morning at 6.00 a.m., gather with others and meet with our chauffeur (I mean pengiring, but I don't know if that the correct term) at 8. It'll take about one hour or so from KL, so you should not wonder about the early trip. I'll still have some time to have breakfast with my whole family hopefully.

After being gathered, we'll have some briefing, check our things, say goodbye to our family (I'm not gonna cry, I'm not gonna cry..) and take off at 11.30.

There's a one day transit at Bahrain, and without any other stop we'll arrive at Egypt.

We'll get a tour around Cairo (if I'm not mistaken), have lunch along the river of Nile (I wonder about the crocodiles), before being brought to our respected house and begin our college life.

Expect some pictures of the Pyramids, that is, as soon as I get my internet there. I'll be cut off from the online world for a month or two before getting the internet installed at my house there.

So this may as well be my last post before a long hiatus...

Anyway, I'll see if I could find any WIFI area and keep you all informed about my situation.

This time I'm not too late, right?

Happy Eid ul-Fitr and maaf zahir dan batin, specifically to all my dear Malay and Muslim friends who will be celebrating this festive month of Syawal. With the entrance of this new month, it also brings the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan.

Right now I'm back in my hometown at Terengganu, safe and sound, thankfully without getting involved in any freak accidents.

I will be back home with my usually fast internet connection this Tuesday.

p/s: As I have been strictly writing my posts in English, some may wonder why I use "maaf zahir dan batin" above. The reason is that I found it to be disturbingly inaccurate in English, which literally translated as "forgive me physically and spiritually".

Rubik Cube

I got quite interested in posting up about the Rubik cube that I mentioned in the tag I’ve done not too long ago, after reading a recent post by Deady. I’ll be bringing you down my memory lane for a bit, back to the time when I first learned how to complete the riddle box. It’s only been one year though, right in the middle of my SPM year.

It all began with a person; he’s the one who teaches all the others, and the ones he teaches spread his teachings. He is the Master of all the other Masters. The fastest too without doubt, among us. The funny thing is, he learned it from the Youtube! Anyway, it spreads from a person to another person, from class to class, from dorm to dorm; it spreads so fast, it’s becoming a pandemic.

And finally everyone in the whole batch were infected, whether they could actually solve the Rubik cube or at least have the basic knowledge about it. By some tough luck, I become the one who brought the virus into my class. Well, I’m not the only one to be blamed as there’re a few others who had also mastered it.

It took me a full three days to completely memorized all the formulas and another few days to totally mastered the Way of The Cube. From merely more than 5 minutes, I managed to narrow it down to 3, and now my fastest record is 1 minutes and 30 seconds. Not an easy feat, I tell you. By the way, the world record is 7.08 seconds, by some guy from Netherlands. Looking by how things are, I still have a way ahead of me.

On a side note, it’s approximately only one month left before my departure to Egypt and I’m in a state of panic now. I still didn't prepare anything that I need to bring there and the list of things that I wish to do before going is no where near complete. There are just so many things to do, so little time...

I know, I know. It's the third day already, but like they always say, it's never too late, right?

Happy fasting to all of you, specifically to all my Malay and Muslim friends out there. I hope I can have a puasa penuh this year, without any ailment or sickness during this month of ramadhan. But actually I'm more worried about my dear blog, as with the starting of the fasting month I'll become either too tired or too lazy to update anything in it..

That aside, I've always welcomed the month of ramadhan as it comes with all the delicacies that we doesn't usually get to eat. It's kind of a bonus to me, plus I'll be having hari raya too, because I get to taste all my favourite food before my departure this September.

I'll try not to get too lazy, but with the fasting during the day and solat terawih at night, I could only hope for a miraculous willpower to come by.

Recognise the girls band shown in the tv?

The page below is taken from the 54th chapter of manga The World God Only Knows, subsequantly the 15th chapter in it's fourth volume.

The popularity of K-On! doesn't end with it's ending song (Don't Say Lazy) being remade and sang by nendoroids, it's now even mentioned in manga. Like in this one, the girls made a band and need a place to practice together, and decided to make a light music club. Well, you could already guess where the idea came from.

The manga is about how a boy interestingly utilise his expertise of "capturing" girls in dating sims in real life situation. You could read the plot summary below:

Keima Katsuragi, a second-year high school student, is an avid dating sim gamer. He is known on the Internet as "The Capturing God" for his legendary skills to be able to "capture" any 2D girl in games. However, in his actual school life, Keima is known as otamegane (オタメガネ), a derogatoryportmanteau of the two words otaku (オタク) and megane (メガネ-"glasses").

At the start of the series, Keima receives an e-mail offering him a contract to "capture" girls. He accepts what is thought to be a challenge, and a demon from Hell nicknamed Elsee appears. She asks for his cooperation to help her in catching the runaway spirits. These spirits hide themselves inside the heart of maidens, and Elsee suggests that the only method to force the spirits out is by "capturing" their hearts — making them fall in love with Keima. Appalled by the idea, Keima refuses after clarifying to Elsee that he is only interested in "capturing" 2D girls and that he detests reality. Nevertheless, with the contract already accepted, Keima would have to help Elsee no matter what; if they fail, both Elsee and Keima would lose their heads.

So Little Time

Last week, I went to the bookshops alongside Jalan TAR (Tuanku Abdul Rahman) to get my hand on this specific book; 'How to Become A Good & Successful Medical Student: A Holistic Approach' by Prof. Dr. Muhaya Haji Mohamad.

I've been reading it for these past few days and upon finishing it, I had come to an absolute understanding; studying medical is a SERIOUS business. Seriously.

I'm not saying that I couldn't cope with what's coming to me. Being wise means to know yourself. Since it's me, I know that I can do it. It's just that when I'll start studying, my usual daily life of lurking around the internet everyday need to be put on halt. Instead of having a full day to myself, I'll only have one or two hours a day to online.

That said, I need to do more lurking with the time I have left...

First Encounter With Death

This is just some random rant of mine. I'm just gonna tell you about something that happened yesterday.

It was morning, I just had my breakfast and was leisurely lurking around 4chan (don't ask me what was I doing there). The doorbell rang, thought that I would lift my lazy ass to look who is it, but my mom was there before me, so I resumed my lurking.

It turned out to be our Malay neighbour, who lives a few houses next to us (and the rest is Chinese, we're the only Malays in that row).

Well, he was asking for help as his aunt had passed out, and needed more guys to lift her (his mom is taking care of her because of her illness). I didn't give much thought and like a good friendly neighbour I went to help. I thought it wasn't such a big deal even after I saw the ambulance in front of their house. My house is near Hospital Selayang, so I see a great deal of them everyday and got quite used to it already.

Getting to the main point, when I got there I thought I'll be carrying a LIVING person, but it turned out that the supposedly PASSED OUT woman had PASSED AWAY already! And it happened right in front of me!

When I arrived at her room, the beeping sound (that you often heard from wards in hospitals) had changed into a long defeaning beep, the daughter was crying, and the paramedic who checked her informed us that she already gone. I was dumbstruck at the spot, and just melopong there for a few minutes as they make a few phonecalls to only God knows who.

I helped them to carry the lifeless body to the front hall so that they can manage her and went home to resume my lurking again.

Of course I feel a bit off seeing someone died, and it was totally a whole different feeling than seeing preserved corpses in the bilik mayat like I used to. But I know this is something that I cannot avoid as a future medical practitioner, and I need to get used to it.

It's No Laughing Matter Anymore

This matter has become more serious than I've ever thought it would be...

As of by the time I'm writing this article, the number of death had reached 41 people already. It had become a pandemic, the H1N1 that is.

When it first strike Malaysia, I still remember laughing with my friends as any sign of symptoms on fellow students would mean free holidays for us. But now... It could mean Death itself to any of us. Day after day, the death count kept increasing. And it doesn't show any sign to drop anytime soon...

Here's a link on how to prevent yourself from getting the H1N1 Flu. Make it a habit of yours, and if possible the habit of the people around you. Because it wouldn't be funny anymore if one of your family or friends is the one who died from it...

Manga Recognition

So now Al Qaeda is even mentioned in manga huh?

The page below is taken from the 17th chapter of manga Dance in the Vampire Bund, subsequantly the fifth chapter in it's third volume.

Story and illustration by Tamaki Nozomu, it's one of the most well-developed and original manga. You could read the plot summary below:

After millennia in hiding, Mina Tepes, the Princess of the ancient covenant and ruler of all vampires, wants change. Using the vast wealth of the Tepes line, she has paid off the entire gross national debt of Japan and in so doing, gained the authority to create a "special district" off the coast of Japan that is to become the future haven to vampires the world over. Now, on the eve of the landmark press conference announcing the existence of vampires to the world, terrorists and rival factions plot to assassinate Mina before she has a chance to make her world-changing announcement.

This gothic lolita manga is also getting it's own anime. It's set to be produced by Shaft, the same studio doing Bakemonogatari. I'm already liking the manga, with it's flat loli- *cough* I mean, it's vampire action and it's excellent original storyline, I'm putting a high hope on the anime.

Endless Eight Ends

The title's a little bit oxymoronic, don't you think?

The screenshot above is the last scene from the ninth episode of the second season of anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, which ended the eight episode Endless Eight arc.

For those who doesn't recognised the hand above or never played poker before, it's called the royal flush, the highest ranking standard poker hand.

Many fans heave sigh of relief over the end of this arc, as it had been a pain-stakingly gruelling eight weeks of watching the same thing over and over again. KyoAni is surely treading dangerous ground coming up with this one...

The screenshots above is from the fifth episode of anime Bakemonogatari, which ended the three episode Mayoi Snail arc. Bakemonogatari is one of the newly released summer anime.

Produced by Shaft, unlike any other anime, it has a unique way of story-telling, with a unique style of art and interesting characters in a creative storyline.

I'm giving a high rating on this one, and I'll be doing a review on it.

Nasi Goreng

No one would ever have thought that a cuisine from this part of the globe would be featured in an anime. Well, I wouldn't..

The screenshot above is from the first OVA of anime To Aru Majutsu no Index, or its title To Aru Majutsu no Index-tan. It had been around for quite some time now (aired around February I think) and I did take my time in posting this up.

What I wanted to emphasize here is the meaning given by the translator: Indonesian Fried Rice.

What?

Why the Indonesian get all the credit? We Malaysian used that term too, you know.

Yeah, you heard me. Now I don't have to worry about not having enough space to store all my loli- *cough* I mean, all my space-consuming movies, music, photos, softwares and data files. :)

Poll's Result

Just like I do expected. The decresing pattern, that is. The question was: For How Long Najib Could Maintain His Position As Prime Minister?

Out of the 57 voters, almost half of them balloted only one year, with the percentage of 49%. Meanwhile, 19 of them believed that Najib will be in power for three years. The bar chart was further decreased as only 17% voted 10 years. Sadly for the first man of Malaysia, few had the confidence that he will be running for two decade, having only 6 people who thought so, merely 10% of the total votes.

To be honest, I created the poll to see the opinions of the Malaysians on the not-so-new-now 6th prime minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak. Even though only 57 out of the 27 million people (approximately 0.0000021%) that participated, we could not ignore the small voices of the people.

Nevertheless, the poll only shows the impression of the people after only 4 months he's in the service, so I can only hope that their opinions will change in the near future.

With this poll closed, I will be opening up a new one on the topic of 1Malaysia that the man had proposed and had taken into action. It's quite interesting to see if the plan that he made would become successful or not as it was on par with the Wawasan 2020 by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. I highly respect Mahathir for his great contributions in his 22 long years of service, and I'm expecting the same from Najib as he also has the same great visions and determination in developing our country Malaysia.

By the way, I would really like to know who are those 6 people that had confidently voted 20 years...

Don't know if Ferguson did actually eat it, but it does give you something to think about. This picture was taken during the match between Malaysia and Manchester United during Man Utd Asia Tour 2009.

Funny, out of the many cheers that he could put on the banner, why is it that question that he asked? Well, it's not that I mind, and nasi lemak had been in my list of favourite dish ever since I was born (OK, I think I did exaggarate a little, but it has been since as long as I can remember). And nasi lemak, by all means and respect, is the national dish of Malaysia.

What's the significance of relating this popular breakfast among Malaysian and the big English football club?

Nothing really...just that it's my favourite food and that I'm a fan of Man Utd (not so big of a fan until the level of fanatic). And I'd never thought that I could put both of them in a sentence. It sure does makes a good title for this post, don't you think?

Summer 2009 Anime List

Here's a chart of the list of anime that would be released this summer, interestingly lined up in the order of the date of release. Also included in the image above are the lists of new OVAs/Specials and continuation of airing anime. You could check out all the charts from the previous seasons here.

There're only two of the anime that I'm really interested in and tentatively watched, which are Bakemonogatari and Tokyo magnitude 8.0. I'm still yet to comment on those two as they just started airing and the plot are still building.

Rep on the Event

The Grand Hall, Multimedia University

After the tiring two days attending the DaiCon, laziness kicked in and posting an article on the event seems merely impossible. At last, after much postponing I finally regained enough strength to hit the keyboard.

Ok, actually I'm still in my lazy mode, so I will not write long in this article.

DaiCon 2009 could be considered small, if you want to compare it with the Comiket in Japan, despite it is one of the biggest anime event in Malaysia. There's quite a number of booth at the expo, and I could say that the most crowded one would be Kareshi Kanojyo no Mise (KKnM) booth. They sell anime merchandices that they brought straight from Japan, so the items there were quite expensive. But that did not dampen my spirit to bleed my own wallet and buy myself a Naruto T-shirt, a Katekyo Hitman Reborn mug (Hibari Kyoya) and paper folder (Sawada Tsunayoshi).

There's a long line of people who were waiting to enter the booth, and I also was not excluded. Took me about half an hour in those line, but it's worth it.

There was also The Figure Mall (TFM) figure exhibition where the TFM members exhibited their individual collections, with many of them being limited edition figurines not sold anywhere. It is one of the biggest and most well-known gathering of figurine collectors in Malaysia. While I was surveying the doujin booth that were scattered around the hall, I found myself face to face with kidchan, a One Academy graduate and an amazing artist that I've always admired. I managed to buy some of her artworks and take a photo of her. You could check out her amazing gallery of artworks at deviantART.

Around noon, I had lunch at the Maid Cafe which was situated at the left side of the grand hall. It took me a while to be seated as it was really crowded with people.

FYI, I don't have a maid fetish. I was hungry, and that was the only place where I could get a grab of snacks. I don't know about the others, but I think most of them were only there to satisfy their needs to be served like a master, or just plain curiousity to try something new.

There were also a lot of cosplayers at the event. A few of them cosplayed 2D characters, while many others cosplayed characters from anime, and some of them characters from movies. There's a lot of pictures that i took of them, but to post them all up is a pain in the ass. So here I made a link to my friend's blog as he had quite a bunch of them posted up.

In the evening of the first day, there's a Q&A panel with Chihara Minori at 5.30 p.m. It was quite hilarious as there were some unexpected questions being asked. For more details on the interview, you could go here.

The highlights of the second day were the special performance by Chihara Minori. Although pictures and videos were not allowed during the concerts, I managed to take two sneak pictures of Minorin in baju kebaya (as you can see above). It was only after a few failed attempts, but I finally get a good shot of her. The pictures are quite blurry, but that's the best that I could get as DaiCon Committee members were roaming around the audience seats.

After the concert was over, there's not much left to see as all the booth were closing. Nevertheless, I stayed long enough to see the ending ceremony. After prizes were given to the respected winners, there's a dancing spree on the stage by all the cosplayers. and guess what, one of the dance was Hare Hare Yukai Dance! So they put Kyon on the center, as the Haruhi's cosplayer was not around.

Thus, DaiCon 2009 ended. Overall, it was a very hectic and tiring weekends, but the most important thing is that I've really enjoyed myself to the fullest.

Slight Reminder

I'm here to make a quick reminder on the event that I've highlighted in one of my post previously.

Tomorrow, the much awaited DaiCon would be held at the stated location, with more highlights and events waiting for visitors. You could get there either by train or by bus, or you could also drive there given that you displayed your Visitor Pass on the dashboard of your vehicles. For those who weren't informed and still doesn't know yet, DaiCon is an anime expo considered to be the largest of it's kind in Malaysia. It is organized by EMINA, a student-interest society based in MMU.

Independence Day must have felt like this 52 years ago; the Pre-Medic Programme that I took for two months at UPM has ended on Thursday 25th June, which approximately a week had pass by then. I've gained a lot of experience and knowledge from the course, and I'm truly grateful to be met with such great friends, who will also be joining me in my studies at Egypt.

The two months period had been a wonderful experience, apart the tiring marathon of lectures, tutorials and classes on weekdays, I've fully enjoyed myself there.

Thankfully the programme had prepared me for what's coming. I have more understanding in the subjects that I will learn as a medic student, and it also had gave me a clear view of the life that I'll have as one. Many people say that "medic students have no life", and I cannot deny that fact. But that also depends solely to the person to make his/her life liveless or alive. To live hell or to live well? You choose. And my decision is to enjoy it to the fullest.

Well, back to the present day.

I've used the one week that I have after the programme to catch up on all the online stuff that I had left behind. I've finally finished reading up the two months worth of postings from the blogs that I've followed, and as well all the manga and anime on my must-read-&-watch list. I'm yet to catch up on the current Anime news and will be doing so in the near future.

Since I have a lot of time ahead of me before my departure to Egypt on 26th Spetember, you can expect a lot postings from me in my blog. The posts will be random; whether it would be about Anime & Manga, a little bit of Music & Games, and of course, about Malaysia.

Pre-Medic Programme

...THIS is not very healthy for my blog. Lately, it doesn't get it's usual dosage of posts that it usually gets. Or, to be more specific, it has been exactly 3 weeks since I last posted in it.

Of course, I have a very decent reason for this(a very damn good one too).

I had just started a two months pre-medic programme at UPM about the same time of my last post(talk about great timing,geez..), and I've been busy as hell ever since. You should've looked at my schedule, and I don't even want to talk about it. Torturously PACKED.

Lectures filled the morning from 9a.m. to 12a.m., continued by tutorial from 2p.m. to 4p.m., and the night is finished off by Arab Language classes from 8p.m. to 10p.m..

And a few visit to bilik mayat between lectures.

The corpses are dead, so there's nothing scary about them. Back to where I was saying..Heck, even the gaps between those periods that were supposely to be my only time of rest, had to be painfully used to study and do revisions. As a result, I don't have the leisure to lurk for interesting materials to post up as articles and only can manage some free time to reply some comments and do a little bit of blogwalking.

This post could only be made after I managed to pack all my revision in the evening, and i don't intend to do that again anytime soon(I'm still a bit dizzy with all the terminology that I've memorized).

The programme will end on 25 June. Maybe after that I'll become active again in the blog-posting. In the mean time, I'll put up some random posts...if I have the leisure to do so.

Egypt, Here I Come!

The letter just came in. It arrived earlier than I do expected (should be sometime in July). Apparently, the company's chief himself had gone to the university to settle the matter. So the result is quicker than what they have stated before. Nice going old man*sigh*. Yup... I don't know if this is a blessing from Heaven or a calling from Hell; but I've got myself a place at Egypt already.

That said, I'll be entering neither the Matriculation nor the IPTA. Heck, I won't even experience any local university life at all.

Actually, I could call myself to be in dilemma now. I need to choose between Perak Matriculation College(Science course), International Islamic University Malaysia(foundation in Engineering), or Mansoura University(degree in Medication).

Well, the decision is quite obvious anyway. What with the recession and all. So...

Maybe I'm a little late at posting this, but like they say, it's better late than never.

Starting from Friday(yesterday), 1st May till Sunday, 3rd May, The DaiCon Committee will be joining the EMiNA Cyber Roadshow held at the 1Utama Highstreet Haha no Hi (Mother’s Day) event.

Activities slated there include cosplay photoshoots, displays of Japanese Modern Visual Culture materials (manga, anime, magazines, figurines and many more) as well as free merchandise giveaways courtesy of Animax Asia and ASTRO.

They're also holding special ticket sales for Miss Chihara Minori’s appearance in DaiCon.

DaiCon 2009: Chihara Minori's First SEA Tour

Tomorrow will be the final exam of my Diploma English Course, in which I hope I'll pass successfully. That will be one workload off my shoulders. Meanwhile, this is a little something on a will-be-major ACG-event in Cyberjaya.

On 11-12 July 2009, an expo will be held at Multimedia University grand hall, Cyberjaya, organized by EMiNA. EMiNA: Society of Modern Visual Culture is a student-interest society for fans of anime, manga, music and video games based in Multimedia University, Cyberjaya Campus.

The expo, named DaiCon, will start off at 11 a.m. and finished at 6 p.m. in those two days event. A few of DaiCon highlights are cosplay competition, figurine exhibition and Go lecturing by the Malaysian Weiqi Association. But the main attraction of the expo would be the appearance of Chihara Midori in her first ever tour to South East Asia.

Debuted as a voice actress in 2004 as the role of Natsume Aya in Tenjou Tenge, her role as Nagato Yuki in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu sparked a boom in her popularity. Since then, she has taken part in many popular works such as Minami-ke and D.C. II: Da Capo II as well as excelling as a singer.

She will be holding a Q&A panels with the fans on Saturday(11th July) and a special performance on Sunday(12th July). You can visit her official website here.

Cyber Fusion 2009: Malaysia Broke World Record

I was doing some lurking in Youthsays when I stumbled upon a 'Gaming' topic under the Sports group discussion. Being a gamers myself, I clicked on the link and found an interesting piece of information that's worth posting in my blog.

Last week(11-12 April), at the Cyber Fusion 2009 held at Multimedia University grand hall, Cyberjaya, about 274 people played video games for 40 hours non-stop to break the world records of the longest non-stop local area network (LAN) party. The previous record of 36 hours by 203 gamers, set at NVision 2008 in San Jose, California last year, was broken.

There were suppose to be 291 participants but after 1 hour,only 285 remained and after that 11 more dropped out mostly due to fatigue.

15 minutes before they breached the supposely 38-hour play time, the organisers Cyberview and Advanced Micro Devices challenged the Malaysian gamers to further their attempt to 40 hours. The challenge was taken on with the "Malaysia Boleh!" spirit by all the surviving gamers.

To be exact, the gamers thought it would be better to play more games as it was raining heavily outside the grand hall at the time. ^_^

Finally, when the clock strikes 40 hours at 12 P.M. on 12 April 2009, the new world record was announced and all those in the grand hall stood up and did a Mexican wave, shouting jubilantly. It took more than 1500 cans of energy drink but Malaysia is now in the Guinness Book of World Records.

It was announced by the Guinness World Records adjudication executive Talal Omar. The prizes were presented by Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Fadillah Yusof to the gamers.
